18 Social Workers from Region 1 Complete the Training of Trainers on Houseparenting, More Batches in the Coming Months

A Child’s Trust Is Ours to Nurture (ACTION), Inc., the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC), with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in its quadripartite project, “Project to Strengthen to Support Systems for Children in Residential Care Facilities and Communities in 11 Regions in the Philippines,” have successfully trained eighteen (18) social workers in its first virtual run of the Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Houseparenting Training from September 1 to 30, 2021.

 

Undersecretary Rene Glen O. Paje of the DSWD graced the Closing Ceremony. In his message, he congratulated the social workers and said that this endeavor shows their undying commitment to the protection and promotion of the welfare of children.

 

The social workers from DSWD-run facilities, Bahay Pag-Asas, and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in Region 1 who completed the TOT are expected to implement the Housepareting Training in their respective residential care facilities namely DSWD Field Office 1 – Haven for Children, DSWD Field Office 1 – Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth, DSWD Field Office 1 – Home for Girls, Balay Namnama – La Union, Bahay Pag-Asa Youth Development Center – Laoag City, Bahay Pag-Asa – Urdaneta City, Parola Santuwaryo, Christ’s Happy Child Haven, Caring for the Future Foundation, Manaoag Christian Children’s Home, Zeteo Missions Foundation, and Shekinah Home in Dingras Ilocos Norte.

 

The project aims to capacitate more social workers and allied professionals in Regions I, II, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VII, VIII, and Cordillera Administrative Region. With this, ACTION, DSWD, and JJWC will conduct another run of ToT in October for Region 2 and Cordillera Administrative Region participants, four (4) runs in 2022, and two (2) in 2023.
