Subiza Resort organized a dance competition dubbed as “Subiza Dance Craze 2016” last May 28. It has been a truly engaging night of competitive hip-hop dancing held at Subiza Seafront Resort and Restaurant in Baloy Long Beach, Barrio Baretto, Olongapo City.
The event is conducted for the benefit of ACTION’s Chikara Program. This program provides various developmental trainings to marginalized children and youth from the local community and those who are being cared for by residential facilities in Region III.
During the event, there were 18 hip-hop groups coming from Olongapo City, Zambales, Pampanga and Tarlac who competed and delivered energetic and breathtaking performances. Nearly 100 attendees were also present to support the meaningful event.
Moreover, “Hand Sign” a Japanese vocal and dance crew showcased their talent and heat up the stage as special guest performers.
The dance crew visited the country to teach dance lessons to children and youth in select partner residential care facilities of ACTION, using unique dance techniques developed for differently-abled individuals. All the “Hand Sign” members enjoyed the event even if they only stayed for a few hours. They were also amazed with the astonishing performances of the Filipino amateur hip-hop dancers.
Before the event ended, Subiza Resort awarded certificates of appreciation to ACTION and Hand Sign.
A week after the event, the staff of Subiza Resort visited ACTION’s Office for the turnover of their donations. Boxes of goods (such as school supplies, used clothes and shoes, and instant noodles) and P5,000 cash were received by ACTION staff together with some of the children-beneficiaries of the Chikara Program. The goods will be distributed to ACTION’s partner facilities while the cash donation will be utilized to support ACTION’s programs and services.
ACTION would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Subiza Resort Chairman Mr. Sumith Kalawila, Managing Directress Maria Cristina Kalawila, Human Resource Consultant Ms. Emie Hidalgo together with all the managing staff and personnel of Subiza Resort, and to all the guests and supporters who took part in making this event a success.
