A CHILD’s TRUST IS OURS TO NURTURE (ACTION), Inc. received a Plaque of Appreciation from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office III (FOIII) on the occasion of its 65th anniversary held on 5 February 2016 at SACOP Ephata Hall, San Fernando, Pampanga. The DSWD FOIII presented this special Plaque of Appreciation in recognition of ACTION’s valuable contribution in capacitating the house parents and social workers to further enhance child care services in Region 3. This was achieved through the recently concluded 3-year project entitled “Capacity Building for Child Caring Institution’s Personnel towards Children’s Well-being and Independence in Region 3” implemented by ACTION, in cooperation with DSWD FOIII and JICA.
Undersecretary Florita Villar, Regional Director Gemma Gabuya together with Mr. Armont Pecina of the Institutional Development Group presented this Plaque of Appreciation to ACTION representatives, Ms. Maki Totsuka and Mr. Emmanuel Drewery. They were joined on stage for this recognition by the Heads of DSWD-run centers for children in Region 3 including former DSWD FOIII Regional Director Adelina Apostol who all made significant contributions in the implementation of the above-mentioned project.
During the said event, several Local Government Units (LGUs), partners from the public and private sector and other stakeholders were also commended and awarded for their best practices in poverty alleviation, environmental protection, participatory approaches to governance and dynamic leadership practices.
ACTION looks forward to another fruitful year of partnership with DSWD FOIII especially in ensuring child protection and welfare by capacitating child care personnel in Region 3. The second phase of project implementation is underway with the launching of the project “Ensuring Children’s Potential for Development and Independence through Improved Residential Care Practices”, a 2-year & 10-month capacity building project for child care personnel to be implemented in Region 3 and the National Capital Region (NCR) from April 2016 – January 2019, to be funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
