Day 2
Good morning!!
This is Natsumi Aoki.
I woke up at 6am today.
First we listened to the story of Tatay Joel V. Alviar, the founder of Jireh Children’s Home.
We heard about history of the Philippines and Jireh, and I was impressed when he told us that his dream is to have zero street children.
That made me think about what I can do to help them.
Next, we listened to the history of Mr. Hajime Yokota, the founder of Action Inc..
“If you want to do something, you can do anything, but people tend not to do that” made and impression on me since I was one of those people, but I promised myself to do everything I want to do from now on.
After lunch, we went to market by a tricycle to explore local atmosphere. It was new and interesting experience. After the market, we played with Jireh children. I learned a few Tagalog words from children as I played with them.
Walang Anuman is You are welcome.
Teka lang is wait.
Oo is yes.
Hindi is No, etc.
I want to learn more Tagalog words while I am in Jireh Home.
In the evening, we planned a party for children, and I am looking forward to it!
Before dinner, we joined a dance lesson with children. It was difficult for me, but some children were really good at dancing! They danced really well.
At night, I was shocked by the bathroom situation here since it is different from what we have in Japan. Here, we have to use cold water in a bucket with a small bucket to scoop and rinse all the soap and shampoo. I thought it might take for a while to get used to it, but I was already fine with the cold water surprisingly. That made me imagine that I would become like a Filipina after this program.
