Chikara Dance Recital and Karate Exhibition 2017

ANNUAL DANCE RECITAL AND KARATE EXHIBITION under ACTION’s Chikara Program was held on June 17, 2017, 2:00 PM at Brgy. East Tapinac Covered Court, Olongapo City. This activity is an avenue for the children to showcase the skills and talents that they have acquired from their dance and Karate training lessons.

The activity was actively participated by one hundred twenty (120) children beneficiaries of Dance no Chikara and Karate no Chikara from the different partner residential care facilities and communities in Olongapo City and Zambales. For the first time, six (6) beneficiaries from the 2nd and 4th  Batch of Hasami no Chikara (Power of Scissors) were given the chance to show their skills through an exhibition in hair cutting and hair styling.

The children demonstrated different dance genres like folk dance, cultural dance, hip-hop and modern dance. The kids from Karate no Chikara together with Mr. Jim Edison Rabaca, the Karate Instructor, showed some Karate movement or “kata”. Mr. Rabaca also did a breath taking presentation by breaking off  hollow blocks using Karate chop with his bare hands,  and flying kicks.

Mr. Ferdinand Telmo, the Dance Instructor delivered a heartfelt message after all the performances of the children. He thanked all the significant people who contributed so much to the success of the activity— to the personnels of the different facilities from the center heads to the  house parents, parents of the children, guests and to everyone who attended the event. He did not expect that his students had gone far in terms of showcasing their skills in dancing. He also hopes for a stronger partnership between ACTION, Inc. and other facilities for the benefit of the children. Likewise, Mr. Jim Rabaca congratulated the children for performing well in the program. He also expressed his gladness for the improved attendance of the children in the Karate training.
