ACTION, Inc., PDEA Strengthen Anti-Illegal Drugs Advocacy Through 2-Day Training of Trainers on Drug Abuse Prevention

On April 22–23, 2026, ACTION, Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), successfully conducted a 2-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on Drug Abuse Prevention Education at the ACTION Office in Malabon City. 

The training brought together ACTION staff and student interns for a productive and capacity-building learning experience aimed at strengthening their role as advocates for drug abuse prevention.

Day 1 opened with a welcome message from Executive Director Ms. Lani Bayron-Llanes, who set an inspiring and purposeful tone for the training. Participants were also honored by the presence of Director III Restie R. Lamorena, Director of the Preventive Education and Community Involvement Service (PECIS), who delivered an inspirational message. She was joined by Director II Elyvenson D. Plaza, Deputy Director of PECIS; Mr. Jose Patrick A. Madayag, Chief of the Preventive Education and Community Involvement Division (PECID); Information Officer III Mr. Arvin Targa, Chief of the Public Information Office of PDEA Regional Office – NCR; Ms. Jean Ivy G. Antonio, Assistant Chief of PECID; Mr. Jerome Paulo F. Co, Information Officer II; and Mr. Marlon S. Delapa, Information Officer I, whose presence and support enriched the training.

Key learning sessions included:

• Foundations and science of drug abuse prevention
• Concepts and terminologies related to drug abuse and its prevention
• Routes of administration of illegal drugs and commonly abused substances
• Effects and impact of drug abuse on individuals and communities
• Key provisions of Republic Act No. 9165
• Strategies for effectively delivering prevention education to youth and adult audiences

Day 2 centered on applying what was learned, as staff and interns conducted individual return demonstrations. Each participant presented key topics, including concepts and terminologies on drug abuse and prevention, routes of administration of illegal drugs, commonly abused substances, and the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165.

The training concluded with a post-test and reflection session, reinforcing both knowledge and personal commitment to the drug abuse prevention advocacy. Certificates were also awarded to staff who completed the previous TOT in September 2025, recognizing their continued dedication.

Building on this momentum, ACTION, Inc. reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of children, especially those at risk. With drug abuse remaining a pressing concern, this certified training further strengthens the organization’s capacity to deliver preventive drug education, empower families, and promote safer, healthier communities for children and youth.
