ACTION Inc. hosts JICA-NGO Study Session

Last 22 to 24 September 2017, staff of the Japan International Cooperation Agency- Philippine Office, and Japanese founded non- government organizations (NGOs) operating in the Philippines, visited ACTION Inc. for a study session.

The two and a half days were dedicated for the visitors to learn from the experiences of ACTION in project management.  The participants were given short lectures introducing ACTION Inc. as an organization, and how it manages its projects—  from needs analysis, designing and planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The JICA funded Capacity Building Project for Child Caring Institution’s Personnel towards Children’s Well-being and Independence in Region 3 which ran from 2012-2015, was used as case study.

The participants also had the chance to interact with and to interview ACTION Inc.’s beneficiaries and partners to further their understanding of how ACTION operates and also to widen their networks. The participants visited residential care facilities for children: Jireh Children’s Home (Zambales);  Olongapo City Social Development Center, and the community of Tayo ang Tinig at Gabay [TATAG] (Olongapo City).

During the closing program, the participants expressed their gratefulness and their learning.  One shared that he appreciated ACTION’s management system, and that he learned that transparency, and good relationship with  counterparts are vital elements to ensure project success.  Another shared that, the Study Session made her realize whom their projects are for, and it renewed her motivation in creating a projects for children.

ACTION is thankful to JICA Philippine Office for the opportunity to share its experiences to other Japanese NGOs, and also to learn from them as well.
