1st JICA Friendship Karate Tournament

ACTION congratulates all the Karate no Chikara beneficiaries and the Karate instructor who participated in the 1st JICA Friendship Karate Tournament on May 28, 2017 at SM Novaliches, Quezon City.

There were 22 (13 boys and 9 girls) ACTION Inc. contingent including the instructor who participated in the said event. These kids are from People’s Recovery Empowerment Development Assistance (PREDA)-Home for Girls and Home for Boys, Jireh Children’s Home Inc., and Tayo Ang Tinig At Gabay (TATAG) Inc.

Before the program started Mr. Jim Rabaca, the Karate instructor facilitated the stretching. He also gave reminders on what to do during the competition proper. Mr. Rabaca also reminded the kids to enjoy the tournament and not to take it seriously.

Out of the 22 participants, 4 (2 boys and 2 girls) children got an award from different age categories. Two boys bagged 3rd place: one for the 6 years old below Category and one for the 9- 10 years old Category. 1 female placed 2nd for 15-16 years old Category and one female competitor was adjudged as the Champion, for the third time, in the 11-12 years old Category. The rest of the ACTION contingent, including the instructor who also competed did their best but were defeated by their opponents. However, this made them more motivated to practice more to make their selves ready for the next tournament. Osu!
